Policy TRAN 9 – Parking standards within areas of parking restraint

This policy sets maximum parking provision standards for residential and non-residential development in designated parking restraint areas, including Belfast City Centre core, Belfast City Centre fringe, and commercial areas outside Belfast City Centre. The standards limit both residential spaces per dwelling and non-operational/operational spaces per square metre of non-residential floorspace.

Within designated areas of parking restraint the following parking standards will be applied: Residential Non-residential No. of spaces per dwelling | No. of non-operational spaces per m2 of floorspace | No. of operational spaces per m2 of floorspace Belfast City Centre (BCC) core: 1.0 | 1/300 | 1/930 BCC fringe: 1.0 | 1/100 | — Areas of parking restraint outside BCC: 1.0 | 1/100 | —
