Importance and Character Preservation in Conservation Areas
Conservation areas protect areas of architectural or historic interest with particular character. The Department attaches great importance to preserving existing character and appearance while promoting economic well-being of these areas.
Many of our cities, towns and villages contain areas of architectural or historic interest which have a particular character considered worthy of conservation. The Department has designated a number of these areas as conservation areas. Great importance is attached to the preservation of the existing character and appearance of such areas allied to the promotion of their economic well-being.
