Digital advertisements - Description

Digital advertisements are illuminated screens displaying video or still images in various formats, including those affixed to buildings, integrated into public realm elements, or standalone kiosks, increasingly used in outdoor locations.

Digital advertisements (sometimes referred to as digital screens or digital billboards) often project advertisements in video format but can also show a still image or be programmed to cycle through a series of still images. As a relatively new method of advertising which was already common in may shopping centres and transport hubs, digital advertising is increasingly being developed for outdoor use and have the advantage of being controlled remotely. Digital advertisements can vary in size, are generally illuminated and can be affixed externally to buildings, integrated into components within the public realm such as bus shelters or take the form of standalone elements such as the digital 'kiosks' that have in more recent years become a common feature within the public realm of the city centre.
