Road safety impact of advertisements and signs
Advertisements and signs have the potential to impact road safety by attracting attention and must be assessed for their effect on the safe use and operation of all forms of traffic and transport, including pedestrian safety.
Advertisements and signs by their very nature are designed to attract the attention of passers-by and therefore have the potential to impact on road safety. In assessing the impact of an advertisement/sign on road safety, the council will have regard to its effect upon the safe use and operation of any form of traffic or transport on land (including the safety of pedestrians), on or over water or in the air.
