Policy DES4 - Advertising and Signage Overview
Policy DES4 sets out the main considerations for assessing proposals for outdoor advertisements requiring council consent. Advertisements can add vitality to streets and support retail and commercial industries when carefully managed.
Policy DES4 sets out the main considerations the council will consider in assessing proposals for the display of outdoor advertisements that require the council's consent. The provisions of this policy will prevail unless there are other overriding policy or material considerations that outweigh it and justify a contrary decision. The display of advertisements forms part of everyday culture and when carefully managed can often add an important layering to the colour and vitality to our streets. As well as providing a valuable source of information, advertisements form a key component of the retail and commercial industries and their presence can be a good reflection of business health, competitiveness and vibrancy across the city.
