Community consultation for major development

Early and meaningful consultation with communities is critical to understand concerns, gain support, and address cumulative impacts throughout the design process and beyond completion.

The consultation process for major development is critical in obtaining an understanding of the main areas of concern facing communities, but also is an opportunity to gain community support for new proposals. Establishing these connections with the community early on within the design process and taking into account the cumulative impact of the proposal should be considered. This will be evident long after the development is completed.
