Statutory basis and related guidance
This SPG is non-statutory planning guidance that supports policies in the current planning framework, including the Strategic Planning Policy Statement and Belfast Local Development Plan Strategy, and should be read alongside related Council SPGs on placemaking, tall buildings, and residential design.
This SPG represents non-statutory planning guidance that supports, clarifies and/or illustrates by example, policies contained within the current planning policy framework, including development plans and regional planning guidance. The information set out in this SPG should therefore be read in conjunction with the existing planning policy framework, most notably the Strategic Planning Policy Statement (SPPS) for Northern Ireland and the Belfast Local Development Plan Strategy. This SPG should also be read in conjunction with the Plan Strategy and full suite of Council SPGs, in particular Placemaking and Urban Design SPG, Tall Buildings SPG and Residential Design SPG.
