Single aspect dwelling requirements and restrictions

Single aspect dwellings should be avoided where possible; where unavoidable, they must demonstrate adequate ventilation, privacy, daylight, and good orientation. North-facing, large (3+ bedroom), or noise-exposed single aspect dwellings should be avoided.

Where single aspect dwellings are unavoidable, the proposed layout should demonstrate that all habitable rooms/kitchens are provided with adequate ventilation, privacy and daylight and the orientation enhances user amenity (including views). North facing single aspect dwellings, single aspect dwellings that contain 3 or more bedrooms and single aspect dwellings that would be exposed to noise levels above which significant adverse effects on health and quality of life could potentially occur, should be avoided.
