Non-active uses at ground floor frontages
Refuse stores, parking, and utilities should be minimized on ground floor frontages, particularly along primary streets and public realm, and where unavoidable should be located internally, on secondary frontages, or articulated with visual interest.
Non-active uses such as refuse stores, undercroft parking and utility/sub-stations, should be kept to a minimum along ground floor frontages, particularly those along primary streets and fronting areas of public realm. Where such elements are required at ground floor, these should be located internally or along secondary frontages. Where services cannot be avoided along primary frontages or fronting public realm, these stretches should be broken up, articulated in materials that pick up on the overall palette and designed to add visual interest to the streetscape.
