Flexible approach for tall buildings not contributing to character
Where a tall building does not contribute to the character of an area, a more flexible and comprehensive reimagining approach may be taken if justified through a Tall Buildings Design Statement.
Conversely where a tall building is not considered to contribute to the character of an area, the opportunity may exist to reimagine the building on a large scale so that it responds more positively to its surroundings and setting of built heritage assets. In these cases, a more flexible approach may be taken in relation to a comprehensive reimagining scheme, however justification for doing so will need to be provided as part of a Tall Buildings Design Statement (TBDS) – see Section 6.
