Design Requirements for Tall Buildings - DES1 and DES3 Compliance
Tall building proposals must meet both DES3 policy requirements and DES1 placemaking and urban design criteria, including achieving the highest architectural quality and responding positively to surrounding context.
In addition to triggering the policy requirements of DES3, proposals for tall buildings will also be expected to meet DES1 policy requirements which contains general placemaking and urban design criteria that applies to all forms of development. Key components of DES1 that are of particular relevance to tall buildings, include new development being of the highest architectural quality and design that responds positively to the surrounding context.
