Purpose of Tall Buildings Guidance
This guidance document provides design guidance for tall buildings development proposals from a placemaking and urban design perspective, avoiding jargon and addressing sustainable development considerations including changing demographics, technology, and environmental factors.
The guidance contained within this document will help support and inform development proposals and their assessment from a placemaking and urban design viewpoint. This document aims to provide clear and concise design guidance that appeals to a wider audience by avoiding the use of jargon and providing definitions for clarity and understanding. It also takes account of the ever-changing environmental, social and economic background experienced globally. Changing demographics, advances in technology and environmental uncertainties will play a huge role in how we develop our city. This guidance provides further information for thinking ahead to encourage developments that are lasting and sustainable places for all, as highlighted within appropriate sections throughout the document.
