Affordable Housing Definition and Council Consultation
Applicants unsure whether a product meets the affordable housing definition should consult with the Council, which may seek advice from NIHE. The SPPS and Plan Strategy use the revised DfC definition of affordable housing.
As outlined in Section 2 of this guidance, the SPPS and hence the Plan Strategy has adopted the revised DfC definition of affordable housing. If an applicant is unsure about whether a particular product meets the definition of affordable housing, this should be raised in the first instance with the Council which may, if appropriate, consult NIHE for advice.
