Hierarchy of streets - Local/tertiary streets
Local or tertiary streets vary by development size and character and maximize pedestrian and cycle priorities with an intimate character, emphasizing connections to neighboring walkways and greenways for access to employment and leisure facilities.
Local/tertiary streets can take on many forms dependant on the size, character and location of development. They can comprise laneways and courts and tend to be more intimate in character where pedestrian and cycle priorities are maximised. Emphasis should be placed on improving connections with neighbouring walkways and greenways to ensure easy access to employment, leisure and local facilities.
