Site and surroundings assessment
Development assessment should begin with a comprehensive analysis of the site and surroundings, including existing landscape, buildings, and the social, economic, and environmental needs of existing communities.
The starting point for any development is an assessment of its site and its surroundings. This covers existing landscape and buildings as well as the social, economic and environmental needs of the existing communities. This widening out of analysis beyond the physical attributes of the site means they are well grounded in their locality.
