Car Parking Loss in Extensions and Alterations

When extensions, alterations, or garage conversions result in loss of in-curtilage car parking, care must be taken to accommodate the lost space elsewhere within the curtilage or on the street.

An extension or alteration to a residential property and/or the conversion of an attached or integral garage to create additional living space can result in the loss of in-curtilage car parking provision. In such cases, care should be taken to ensure that any car parking space lost due to the proposed development is capable of being accommodated elsewhere within the curtilage of the site or can be accommodated on the street.
