Space standards for wheelchair housing
Wheelchair accessible homes must meet specific space standards from Appendix C of the Plan Strategy, which are more generous than general needs housing standards and account for carers, turning circles, equipment, and storage.
The wheelchair housing space standards in Appendix C of the Plan Strategy apply to all wheelchair accessible homes as opposed to the space standards for general needs housing (see Section entitled 'Residential space standards') and are intended to make provision for optimum floorspace that takes account of aspects such as carers, larger turning circles, equipment, storage and flexibility.
