Wheelchair Accessible Housing Standards for Social and SIR Housing
Social housing and supported independent residential (SIR) housing must be designed to full wheelchair housing standards on a case-by-case basis according to individual needs, following the wheelchair standards contained within the Department for Communities' Housing Association Guide (HAG24).
However, as noted above, the wheelchair accessible standards are less onerous than requirements for full wheelchair housing standards. In the case of social housing or SIR housing, full wheelchair housing requirements are identified on a case-by-case basis to respond to individual needs and will need to be designed to the wheelchair standards contained within DfC's HAG24.
