External rear staircases as main entrances are unacceptable

External staircases at the back of buildings accessed via rear alleyways cannot serve as main entrances, as they compromise privacy for neighbouring properties and fail to meet adaptable and accessible housing requirements.

External staircases at the back of the building, via a rear alleyway are not acceptable as the main entrance as they cause a loss of privacy for neighbouring properties. They would also fail to meet the requirements of Policy HOU7: Adaptable and accessible housing as outlined in Section 5 of this SPG.
