Noise and disturbance minimisation in residential design

New residential development design and layout should minimise noise disturbance through acoustic design considerations integrated early in the design process, addressing both internal conditions within buildings and external amenity spaces.

The design and layout of new residential development should minimise the potential for noise disturbance. Acoustic design considerations should therefore receive attention at an early stage in the overall design process so that optimal acoustic conditions, both internally (within proposed buildings) and externally (in spaces to be used for amenity purposes). Such considerations will help to avoid negative acoustic conditions experienced by the occupants of new residential development and neighbouring residential properties.
