Overshadowing and loss of light - planning consideration
New residential layouts and dwellings must be planned to avoid unreasonable overshadowing of habitable rooms and garden areas of neighbouring properties, and to safeguard their existing access to sunlight and daylight.
The protection of neighbouring properties from unreasonable loss of light is a well-established planning consideration. It is important that layouts and dwellings are planned to avoid overshadowing of habitable rooms and garden areas. Care should also be taken to safeguard access to sunlight and daylight currently enjoyed by existing residential properties.
