Servicing arrangements for residential development
Access roads must accommodate waste collection and emergency vehicles. Roads serving 5 or more dwellings must meet adaptable standards, while schemes with fewer dwellings may require bin collection areas near the access road entrance. facilitate adequate servicing arrangements – access roads should allow for the collection of waste and access for emergency vehicles. Access roads exclusively servicing 5 dwellings or more must be to an adaptable standard. For schemes less than five dwellings, the Council may request provision of bin collection areas near to the entrance of the access road to enable efficient collection of waste. Bin collection areas need to be carefully sited and designed so as not to have a detrimental effect on the streetscene or cause amenity issues. Where shared drives offer the only access due to site constraints, these considerations will be particularly important. The suitability of shared drives will therefore be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
