Viability in Belfast Plan Strategy Policy HOU5: Affordable Housing

The Belfast Plan Strategy permits case-by-case consideration of alternatives to full affordable housing requirements where it can be demonstrated that the proposed development cannot sustainably or viably meet the policy in full.

Viability is specifically mentioned within the policy wording of Policy HOU5: Affordable housing, where it states that the Council will consider suitable alternatives on a case by case basis "where it can be demonstrated that it is not sustainable or viable for a proposed development to meet the requirements of this policy in full." Further information in relation to this is addressed within the Affordable Housing SPG.
