Design requirements for affordable housing
Developers must ensure affordable housing meets specific design standards from the Housing Association Guide and relevant Local Development Plan policies on design, density, and accessibility.
A RHA can provide advice on any specific design and layout requirements for the development of social housing, particularly in relation to the DfC's Housing Association Guide (HAG) design standards.
In relation to intermediate affordable housing, design requirements and financing should also be discussed at an early stage with a RHA.
In addition to the specific design requirements for affordable housing, all development should also meet the appropriate requirements as set out in LDP design policies DES1-DES4 and RD1-RD3, Policy HOU4: Density of residential development and HOU7: Adaptable and accessible accommodation.
