Early Engagement and Pre-Application Discussion
Early discussion with the Council about affordable housing concerns is strongly recommended, with a Pre-Application Discussion (PAD) suggested when sustainability or viability issues are expected. NIHE involvement is important due to their statutory responsibilities for affordable housing.
In this context, it is important to discuss any concerns in relation to meeting affordable housing policy requirements in full with the Council at an early stage. A PAD is therefore strongly recommended in advance of a planning application where sustainability or viability issues are expected to arise. Given their statutory responsibilities in relation to affordable housing, the involvement of NIHE is important as part of this overall process.
