Policy DC11 – Agriculture: New Building Siting Requirements
New buildings must be sited beside existing farm or forestry buildings unless no suitable existing buildings exist on the holding, with limited exceptions for alternative sites based on business efficiency or health and safety reasons.
In cases where a new building is proposed applicants need to demonstrate that there are no suitable existing buildings on the holding or enterprise. Any new buildings should be sited beside existing farm or forestry buildings.
Exceptionally, consideration may be given to an alternative site away from existing buildings, provided there are no other sites available at another group of buildings on the holding, and where it is essential for the efficient functioning of the business or there are demonstrable health and safety reasons.
