LC1 – Landscape: Mitigation and exceptional circumstances

Where adverse impacts cannot be avoided, suitable mitigation measures must be provided. Exceptionally, development may be approved if it brings substantial community benefits that outweigh landscape impacts and adequate mitigation is in place.

Where potential adverse impacts cannot be avoided, and subject to the level of protection offered by any designation, suitable mitigation measures must be provided. In such exceptional circumstances, the development may be considered where it is clearly shown that it will bring substantial community or other benefits that outweigh any potential landscape impacts and that adequate mitigation will be put in place.
