Belfast Lough and coastal nature conservation designations
Parts of Belfast Lough and adjacent lands are protected by international and national designations including Special Protection Areas, RAMSAR sites, and Areas of Special Scientific Interest to preserve the undeveloped coastal environment.
Parts of Belfast Lough and adjacent lands are protected by international and national nature conservation designations - Special Protection Areas (SPA), RAMSAR site and an Area of Special Scientific Interest (ASSI). It is important to preserve the unique value of the undeveloped coastal area of Belfast, including inter-tidal areas, having particular regard to these designated international natural heritage sites.
