The diverse landscapes and seascapes within and around Belfast, including the Belfast Hills, Lough, and Lagan Valley Regional Park, contribute significantly to the city's distinctive character and visual amenity value. The coast is economically important as a strategic port linking to Britain, Europe and beyond.
The diversity of landscapes and seascapes within and surrounding the urban area contribute enormously to the city's distinctive and attractive character. The Belfast Hills, Castlereagh and Craigantlet Hills, Belfast Lough, the Lagan Valley Regional Park and other countryside and open areas have outstanding visual amenity value, and provide a unique setting for Belfast. The coast is of great economic importance to Belfast as the port provides for strategic economic links to Britain, Europe and the rest of the world.
