Intensive sports use and local amenity impacts
Intensive sports facilities are valuable community resources but require careful location consideration due to potential impacts on local amenity including traffic, noise, and light disturbance. Proposals should be at accessible locations with no significant impact on established land uses, amenity, wildlife, and environment, with mitigation measures secured where necessary.
Whilst they are a valuable community resource, the intensive sports use has the potential to impact on local amenity, including by traffic, noise and light disturbance. Therefore their location has to be carefully considered against the potential impacts on local amenity. In this regard, the policy seeks to facilitate appropriate proposals at accessible locations, provided there is no significant impact on established land uses, amenity, wildlife and the environment. Mitigation measures may be required and these may be secured by way of developer agreements.
