Definition and scope of green and blue infrastructure

Green and blue infrastructure encompasses multifunctional spaces including parks, gardens, agricultural fields, hedges, trees, woodland, green roofs, green walls, rivers, ponds, and the routes and corridors that link them, regardless of ownership, condition or size.

Green and blue infrastructure includes multi-functional spaces in and around the city, such as parks, gardens, agricultural fields, hedges, trees, woodland, green roofs, green walls, rivers and ponds. It also includes the routes and corridors that link such sites, such as designated community greenways, other paths, street trees and civic spaces. The term 'green and blue infrastructure' covers all land containing these features, regardless of ownership, condition or size.
