Green design best practice and accessibility
Green design practices should maximise natural site attributes, passive design, and energy efficiency. Development proposals should consider future electric vehicle use, including charging facilities, to reduce emissions and ensure adaptability.
Green design best practice, including making the best use of the natural attributes of a site, passive design and energy efficiency, can assist in minimising the carbon footprint of new development. The use of sustainable materials and clever reuse of buildings for alternative uses are other ways to help mitigate against environmental change. In terms of accessibility, as vehicular travel is a major component of greenhouse gas emissions, development proposals should consider the future use of electric cars, including sharing pools and charging facilities. This helps to reduce harmful emissions and ensures that development can adapt to future needs.
