Ground contamination investigation and remediation
Developers must identify suitable mitigation to remediate contaminated land and prevent adverse impacts on human and non-human receptors, water quality, or land. Sites with ground works must have detailed site investigations to establish contamination and pollution potential.
In relation to contaminated sites, suitable mitigation must be identified to remediate any contaminated land and prevent potential adverse impacts of the development on human and non-human receptors, land or water quality. Where development involves ground works (including the creation of open spaces), developers will be expected to carry out a detailed site investigation to establish whether the site is contaminated and to determine the potential for pollution of the water environment or harm to human health and non-human receptors.
