Travel plans requirement and purpose

Travel plans are documents that set out a package of complementary measures for the overall delivery of more sustainable travel patterns. They should mitigate adverse impacts highlighted in a TA with the emphasis on the need to reduce reliance on the private car and promote sustainable modes of travel. They will be required for those developments which are likely to be significant travel generators such as major residential developments, transport interchanges, businesses, hospitals and schools.
