Matters to consider for waste management facilities
Proposals for new or extended waste management facilities must address health, visual impact, transport, conservation, environmental pollution, water protection, flooding, agricultural land, and site reinstatement.
In considering proposals for new, or extensions to existing, waste management facilities there are a number of matters which require to be considered. These include the following: Health considerations; Visual intrusion and impact on the landscape; Transport, traffic and access; Nature conservation and heritage; Environmental pollution – which includes the following: i. Noise; ii. Dust and airborne pollution; iii. Litter; iv. Vermin and birds; v. Land instability; vi. Hours of operation; and vii. Duration of operations. Protection of surface and groundwater; Flooding from rivers; Agricultural land quality; and Reinstatement of the site.
