Support for renewable energy proposals

The council will support renewable energy proposals only where adverse effects are outweighed by local and wider environmental, economic and social benefits. Opportunities for decentralised or local renewable energy generation and district heating are acknowledged at appropriate locations.

The council will only support renewable energy proposals where they would not have unacceptable adverse effects which are not outweighed by the local and wider environmental, economic and social benefits of the development. We also acknowledge the opportunities for decentralised or local renewable energy generation and district heating distribution proposals at appropriate locations in the city.
