Protection of noise-generating cultural venues

Theatres, concert halls, performance venues, pubs, and live music venues should be protected as valuable cultural tourism assets. Adjacent developments must be designed to ensure established cultural venues remain viable without licensing restrictions or closure threats due to noise complaints.

Noise-generating cultural venues such as theatres, concert halls, performance venues, pubs and live music venues should be protected, as they contribute to a vibrant place and are a valuable asset for cultural tourism in Belfast. This requires a sensitive approach to managing change in the surrounding area. Adjacent development and land uses should be brought forward and designed in ways which ensure established cultural venues remain viable and can continue in their present form without the prospect of licensing restrictions or the threat of closure due to noise complaints from neighbours.
