Policy TLC3: Overnight visitor accommodation
Planning permission is granted for overnight visitor accommodation within the city centre. Outside the city centre, accommodation is only permitted where it is within an existing tourism cluster or adjacent to a visitor attraction, subject to design, amenity, open space, employment, and parking requirements.
Planning permission will be granted for development proposals for new overnight visitor accommodation within the city centre boundary.
Outside of the city centre boundary, proposals for overnight visitor accommodation will only be permitted where it can be demonstrated there are specific locational requirements for the accommodation to be sited either within an existing tourism cluster or adjacent to a visitor attraction.
This will be subject to proposals meeting all other policy requirements, particularly those relating to design, protecting residential amenity, protection of open space and employment land and car parking and servicing.
Proposals for holiday self-catering apartments, serviced apartments, or short term holiday lets will be considered under the short term let policy HOU13.
