Impact assessment threshold for out-of-centre development
Impact assessments are required for proposals over 1,000 m² gross floorspace to ensure developments support vitality and vibrancy of centres and do not cause significant adverse impacts on existing centres.
Impact assessments, required for proposals over 1,000sq.m gross floorspace is deemed an appropriate set size threshold reflecting the primacy and growth ambitions of Belfast City Centre. It will also help ensure that any proposed use is in the best location possible to support the vitality and vibrancy of centres, and that no significant adverse impacts on existing centres arise from inappropriately located development.
