Pollution Policy Context and Aim

The policy framework aims to prevent development from causing environmental pollution that adversely affects the environment or local amenity, including air quality, water quality, noise, and light pollution.

The aim of this policy is to ensure that development proposals do not result in environmental pollution which could adversely affect the environment or local amenity. This aim has taken account of and is consistent with the provisions of the SPPS. Pollution can take various forms, including an unacceptable reduction in air or water quality, unacceptable noise levels and/or light pollution. The Council recognises that it is important in assessing new development proposals that careful consideration is given to the effects of any pollution on local amenity, human health and the quality of the environment.
