Shared Meanwhile Uses – Permanence and Community Consultation
Temporary 'meanwhile' uses are subject to other permanent-use policies, and applications to extend or make them permanent must meet full plan policies. Community consultation is required to demonstrate resident engagement in areas affected by interface barriers.
Shared 'meanwhile' uses are not exempt from other policies relating to permanent uses. Planning applications to extend the period of shared meanwhile use or to make it permanent will be considered against the policies of the plan as a whole. As residents living in areas impacted by interfaces will be part of the consultation on the removal of interface barriers, they should also be part of discussions on meanwhile uses. A community consultation statement shall be required as part of planning applications to demonstrate that shared community engagement has been undertaken.
