Regional policy on character enhancement and preservation
Regional policy aims to enhance or preserve the character and appearance of areas. There is a general presumption against demolition of unlisted buildings except in exceptional circumstances.
Regional policy aims to enhance the character or appearance of the area where an opportunity to do so exists, or to preserve its character or appearance where an opportunity to enhance does not arise. There is also a general presumption against demolition of unlisted buildings that should only be relaxed in exceptional circumstances.
