Flexible application of amenity space standards for heritage buildings

In exceptional circumstances, prevailing amenity space standards may be applied flexibly when bringing derelict historic buildings back into use, with off-site provision of amenity space potentially meeting policy requirements if secured through s76 planning agreements.

In exceptional circumstances prevailing standards may be applied flexibly to best balance competing policy requirements, such as bringing derelict historic buildings back into use. In such cases, off-site provision of amenity space, for example, may help to meet policy requirments, but would need to be secured through the use of s76 planning agreements.
