Refuse and recycling provision in high-density residential
High-density residential development requires careful management of refuse and recycling facilities to meet sustainability objectives. Communal containers and stores must be accessible, located on hard level surfaces, and positioned to minimise noise and smell nuisance.
Increasing density will require careful management of refuse provision, particularly recycling facilities, to ensure sustainability objectives are met. Communal refuse and recycling containers, communal bin enclosures and refuse stores should be accessible to all residents, and located on a hard, level surface. Refuse stores within buildings should be located to limit the nuisance caused by noise and smells and provided with means for cleaning.
