Reservoir Flood Risk - Development Permissions

Development within the flood inundation area of a controlled reservoir may be permitted if the developer demonstrates appropriate condition, management, and maintenance regimes for the reservoir to assure its safety.

The Council will permit development proposals within the potential flood inundation area of a controlled reservoir (as defined in the Reservoirs Act (NI) 2015) where it is satisfied, in consultation with DfI Rivers, that the developer has demonstrated the condition, management and maintenance regime of the reservoir are appropriate to provide sufficient assurance regarding reservoir safety to enable the development to proceed.
