Residential density in city corridors and gateway locations

New residential and mixed-use development in city corridors and gateway locations should be constructed to maximum appropriate density, with higher levels suitable for brownfield redevelopment near local centres, transport nodes, and waterfront areas.

In relation to city corridors and gateway locations, new residential and mixed use development should be constructed up to the maximum density that is deemed appropriate in accordance with proper planning and urban design principles. Higher density levels can be appropriate in redeveloping brownfield sites, particularly in relation to increasing massing around local centres, public transport nodes, parks and riverfront locations. In these instances the basic tenants of good urban design practice would still apply.
