SuDS schemes and managing surface water flow

SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems) are designed to slow water flow during intense rainfall to prevent drainage infrastructure being overwhelmed, and can be tailored in size and composition to most developments.

Hard, impermeable surfaces result in the rapid transfer of water during periods of rainfall which can result in drainage infrastructure being overwhelmed. SuDS schemes are designed to 'slow the flow' of water during periods of intense rainfall, resulting in a more manageable transfer of water. SuDS vary in size and composition, depending on the development proposal, and can be used in most developments where the flow of water would be large enough to be readily reduced.
