Trees and landscape in public realm
Trees and landscape enhance public realm quality and should be retained where possible, including existing trees on and around sites, with new planting where trees are removed.
Trees and landscape also add value to the quality of public realm and can play a key role in the integration of public space with surrounding areas. Where landscape proposals form part of a development scheme, due cognisance should be given to the retention of natural features where possible. This would include seeking the retention of existing trees in and around the site and the provision for new tree planting in cases where trees are removed as a result of development.
