SuDS design measures and considerations

For drainage assessments, applicants must consider both soft SuDS measures (green roofs, swales, soakaways, basins, ponds, wetlands, rainwater recycling) and hard measures (oversized storm water pipes with flow control attenuation tanks, permeable paving).

In the case of development accompanied by a DA, the Council will expect applicants to demonstrate that they have considered use of the following measures to assist in minimising flood risk: 'soft' SuDS measures e.g. green roofs; swales; soakaways; basins; ponds; wetlands; and rainwater recycling, and 'hard' SuDS measures e.g. oversized storm water pipes with flow control attenuation tanks and permeable paving.
