Housing Variety and Inclusive Development

New housing development must offer a variety of house types, sizes and tenures to create inclusive and accessible built environments with mixed-tenure, well-linked neighbourhoods that serve different population needs.

Whilst population projections are an important source of information on the level and location of future housing, the rate of household formation is a more important driver of the housing market. The LDP needs to ensure that new development offers a variety of house types, sizes and tenures to meet the different needs of the population and that they create an inclusive and accessible built environment. The delivery of homes also offers significant opportunities to help achieve balanced communities through well-linked, accessible, inclusive, mixed-tenure and tenure blind neighbourhoods.
